To be honest, I personally don’t think I will ‘need’ it. I think there is too much unnecessary fear going around. I’m not saying that it should be treated lightly since I’ve seen the affects of the Swine Flu when I went to visit my relatives in South America, via the news, but I think standard precautions like washing your hands, not sharing drinks or food, and covering your mouth when coughing might be just as affective. Speaking of my trip to South America, my Dad was so paranoid that he even got us some relenza (zanamivir) inhalation powder just in case. The only bug I picked-up was a mild case of strep throat.
Oh, I’m also currently working in a doctor’s office and there is talk that there will be a major back-up of the regular flu vaccines which concerns me more, especially for the elderly that come in… 😕
