I would like to share with you some of my favorite music artists and songs. In my opinion they are pretty good so you should check them out.
First off is Matisyahu. If you haven’t heard of this band I suggest you look ’em up 😀
[youtube:2g6jzi8u]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Buy8dLlfBZE[/youtube:2g6jzi8u]Next is a guy who is actually from the same area as me. Joe Driscoll: his style is pretty amazing. Trust and just watch.
[youtube:2g6jzi8u]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2cAArobH8g[/youtube:2g6jzi8u]Another one, Harmonic Beat Boxing 😀 😀
[youtube:2g6jzi8u]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or3d6uwxvqs[/youtube:2g6jzi8u]One more from him. I went to his concert when he first released this video. He does all this stuff live and it sounds great.
[youtube:2g6jzi8u]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p4IWzRfwUA[/youtube:2g6jzi8u]Anyway please comment and let me know what you think. Let me know if you want me to keep sharing.

October 11, 2008 at 1:35 am #9820ebmstudiosMemberEcho that was fantastic ! Someone played a Matisyahu song for me , maybe a year or so ago , but I had forgotton about him until I watched your vid . Very cool . As for the Joe Driscoll , I had never heard him before now , but I agree he is amazing ! Thanks for posting these ; I would appreciate it if you would share some more . You obviously have great taste in music . 😀 Thanks again ! – Mark
October 11, 2008 at 4:08 am #9821echoMemberThanks Mark! I’ll share some more, but I’m trying to find some really good ones.
Here’s one. Bob Marley is great, end story. This is one of my favorites from his collection (it’s hard to pick favorites he has so many good songs).
[youtube:15ergel3]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KqtrT3mQe8[/youtube:15ergel3]I guess I’ll stick with the reggae. My favorite song by Buju Banton.
[youtube:15ergel3]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izZkCKoenUk[/youtube:15ergel3]I give to you 311. A live version of Beyond the Grey Sky, another favorite…
[youtube:15ergel3]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dfnEjKWTo4[/youtube:15ergel3]Ok, the next artist is also really good. I suggest you look up some of his other songs because they are all pretty sick.
[youtube:15ergel3]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAuQmJzt_q0[/youtube:15ergel3]It was hard to find a good quality video for this band so it has nothing to do with it’s artist, but surfing instead. 😐
[youtube:15ergel3]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoYJzbxsJDA[/youtube:15ergel3]The name of the band is John Brown’s Body and I think they are also from around where I live. If you want to know more look here (http://www.johnbrownsbody.com/wordpress/?cat=1) or search the web yourself. Hope you like the music 😀
October 16, 2008 at 8:23 pm #9822echoMemberUhh.. I’m not sure if anyone really listens to the music I post, but whatever. I’ll keep posting anyway. 😀
First one today is Slightly Stoopid, Strait from Cali. Their sound is great! This has got to be one of my all time favorite songs. After the picture stops there’s like a minute of nothing, just so you know
[youtube:1rw29u07]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFGmnJQ_BF0[/youtube:1rw29u07]Here’s another good one from Slightly Stupid, with unrelated video attached.
[youtube:1rw29u07]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgKmIr3ufok[/youtube:1rw29u07]I’m not sure if any of you like ska. I’m not a big fan but I like this band: Streetlight Manifesto
[youtube:1rw29u07]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOFkcj4iDvM[/youtube:1rw29u07]Here’s a good one. The Postal Service: Such Great Heights. Cool video too.
[youtube:1rw29u07]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMOkfI7wCrI[/youtube:1rw29u07]I think when a band sounds good if not better live then they deserve props. O.A.R. is just such great a band.
[youtube:1rw29u07]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH3t5ScK2Oc[/youtube:1rw29u07]Please tell me if you like the stuff I share, I would appreciate knowing you do.
October 17, 2008 at 3:41 am #9823opalescentMemberHaven’t heard Slightly Stoopid for too long, thanks for posting that!
October 17, 2008 at 4:20 am #9824echoMemberHmm… I’m surprised you’ve even heard of them well… I guess old fogies can be cool too 😮 😆 haha just kiding 😛
do you have a favorite song?October 17, 2008 at 4:29 am #9825opalescentMemberI lived in San Diego for a while.
SS was part of a blur of a lot of amazing music that was everywhere, and I’d have trouble naming any song title at this point! It’s amazing how much of your memory you lose when you have a kid 😕
October 17, 2008 at 4:32 am #9826echoMember😯 So did you get to hear them live!? or was it just something you heard because you were around that area?
October 17, 2008 at 5:29 am #9827opalescentMemberMy friends and I swapped homemade CDs, everything from reggae/ska to flamenco to techno, everything. I never saw them live, though, more like chill hangout music. Although, who knows? I stumbled into a lot of places with good music 😀
Saw Jason Mraz a lot at a coffeeshop, and Price of Dope at a lounge. Deva Premal and Krishna Das. And my friend used to haul his pontoon boat down to the amphitheatre and we’d listen in… I was pretty “gone” by the time we settled in, there were a lot of people passing wine bottles back and forth, and the stars, and the water… I remember we got to Ravi Shankar’s last US show. That, was amazing.
Jump blues was big too, salsa, flamenco. Kundalini devi wanted to dance 😆
October 17, 2008 at 5:38 am #9828echoMemberwow that sounds incredible! I think that life should revolve more around music and coming together. At least that’s what I want for my life. Ravi Shankar? Concerts? I don’t know much about him, but I have Chants of India and Three Ragas done by him. Some really good authentic Indian music 😀
Yup Slightly Stoopid is by far some chill music 😎
October 17, 2008 at 5:57 am #9829opalescentMemberThere was an amphitheater right at the edge of an inlet/marina kind of thing. We didn’t pay or anything, we just went when we heard someone good was playing. Had to be vewwy kwiet…
Ravi Shankar is the sitar player with the Beatles. Ring a bell? Norah Jones’ father, too. His music will rewire your brain. 😯
My friends and I went to see Krishna Das twice, with Wah!, at a community church in Encinitas. Both times the seating area was full by the time we got in, and both times we were led by an usher to sit on stage behind them. Do you know Krishna Das’ music? Pretty ecstatic stuff.
It was definitely a wonderful thing to have so much music to envelop so many good times. Enjoy yourself! 😀
October 17, 2008 at 4:35 pm #9830echoMemberThanks for the info. I actually didn’t know that Ravi Shankar taught George Harrison how to play the sitar 😀 It’s got to be the same guy though. I have three ragas he performed that are about 20 minutes each, they are really nice for meditation. Since we are on the subject I thought I’d share my favorite Beatles songs.

October 25, 2008 at 5:41 pm #9831echoMemberI don’t know why, but lately I’ve been feeling down. It’s cold, windy, and raining outside, so I’m indoors looking through my music and I came across this song in my library… Ben Harper’s Cover of The Drugs Don’t Work. It felt like it matched the mood and I wanted to share.
[youtube:s7rd1enp]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4mgStTuRP4[/youtube:s7rd1enp]Hmmm.. This is a more widely known song by Ben Harper. Live at Bannaroo 😆
[youtube:s7rd1enp]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryLqfNwSSFE[/youtube:s7rd1enp]This is completely random, I’m just looking for favorites. I heard a lot of different music when I was growing up, but for some reason I remember Cat Stevens and Van Morrison. Old stuff, but really good.
[youtube:s7rd1enp]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHXpnZi9Hzs[/youtube:s7rd1enp]I was torn between these two songs…. so I’m going to share them both. 😀
[youtube:s7rd1enp]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sjSHazjrWg[/youtube:s7rd1enp]I was going to post Van Morrison’s Moondance, but I couldn’t find an original version on youtube 😕 🙄 But he has some really good stuff that’s worth checking out. Caravan, Come Running, Crazy Love, just to name a few.
