Greetings, everyone. I’ve finally joined the site! I’d been meaning to right after it came on-line, but before I got around to it the site crashed. 😥 I’m glad to see it back up & running again. 😀
I’m what you might call a “scientific skeptic”, I find it hard to believe something until I’ve gotten undeniable proof of it (read: if it happens to me, I’ll believe it!). I grew up learning the ways of science, and almost followed a path to become an astrophysicist; the behind-the-scenes activities I witnessed while working in the Physics Department of the university turned me away from this pursuit. That story, though, is for telling at another time.
I do, however, respect all others belief of what they’ve seen or heard. I know that there are many things in this world that are unexplained, misunderstood, or otherwise uncategorizable. I’m not here to pass judgement on anyone; my purpose is to learn, share, and prepare for what lies ahead of us.
Namaste

That space between science and the scientific method sure is rich ground for exploring some of the, shall I say, foibles of the quest for truth and understanding, ain’t it?
Looking forward to your contributions to this place of illumination, glad you’re here.
October 9, 2008 at 6:59 am #9785GA LOVES YOUMemberHello there,
Welcome, I am a new member here also. Science or Spirituality, isn’t that a million dollar question for some? What you said about how you have to experience things to truly understand them is SO TRUE. Three years ago I don’t know if I would have believed everything that I even experienced. For me Spirituality is the basis for science…not the other way around. GOD is smiling about this last sentence.
No scientist I know can explain how I know this or can talk to GOD in scientific terms. NOT YET Sassy GOD is saying…not yet. Here is an interesting statement for you. When you think or try to make sense of things with your mind you are thinking like a human. When you are able to let go and allow thoughts come to you from within you are thinking like a soul. GOD told me that the spirit world is SO complex and it is like teaching calculas to a goldfish with humans. The human brain is capable of just so much. I am hearing these words to give to all…Let Go and Let God.
So you have experience as an astrophysicist. I would LOVE to hear more about that. I have a friend in the United Kingdom that is involved with Thornborough Henges which is so fascinating. I had a friend that is a scientist who no longer communicates with me to my knowledge because he thinks I am crazy. I have had to live a secret side for a long long time with this part of me as others do NOT want to have their belief systems challenged. I applaud you for your openness.
Again, Welcome.
Love to you,
GA
October 9, 2008 at 7:30 am #9786ZingdadMemberSilver is here! Welcome friend!
Y’know silver I often say this: we should only ever trust and believe what is in our own experience. Wasn’t blindly believing in things that were NOT our experience what got us into the horrible mess we are in in the first place?
Anyone or anything that asks you to believe against your own experience is just trying to manipulate you.
Politicians ask us to trust them. Yet it is our experience that they are consistently utterly untrustworthy. We continue to trust them at our own peril.
Religions tell us our truth is not inside us but inside a book. Or a preacher. Or some other “holy” personage. And yes, they’ll accept cash or cheques, thank you.
Science (despite it’s promise not to do this) offers up the same high-clergy. Only the “experts” know. You must go to a doctor for your health becasue you’ll just keep making yourself ill. And the doctor will fix you up with a jumble of chemicals and antibiotics. And yet! Quantum Mechanics starts to show directly that we create our realities with our own minds!
So it’s all a mess. Until the day we decide:
1. To simple believe our own experience
2. And to choose for ourselves what that experience might be.😳 Sorry Silver. I just realised I slipped into soap-box mode. I didn’t mean to launch into a tirade on your intro page. I guess what I’m actually trying to say is that I agree with you: we really should trust our own experiences. But it is also MY experience that we can take it further. We can actually take direct control of our experiences with our minds, our will, our intentions. So that’s the first thing I wanted to say.
The SECOND thing I wanted to say is that I’m really pleased you’re here! Welcome!
October 9, 2008 at 12:36 pm #9787AnnanMemberMuch welcome dear friend SilverSurfer!
It will be interesting to inter-act with you in these times of turmoil. Think “all side of the table” can agree than strangeness is in the air – so to say most literally – so it is very fine to make some reason out of many different point of views. So looking forward to hear your view, in the wonder-full matters we are discussing amongst us here in this forum.
Much love
Annan the NordicOctober 12, 2008 at 4:29 pm #9788ShyloLoveKeymasterYAY! Silver is here!
Glad you made it friend!
Some amazing things have been said in this thread…what a nice welcome thread! I don’t often make it in here (because my time is always spent behind the scenes the most :ugeek: ) but I wanted to welcome you our friend from BoT (http://www.book-of-thoth.com)!! 😀
I just have to say that this:
@GA LOVES YOU wrote:

…is a very cool statement, I like the way you stated it. 🙂 It’s the difference between thinking with your heart and thinking with your head. 😀
Of course, everything Zingdad says is exactly my understanding as well. 😉
BIG welcome and I see you’ve jumped right in to the forums….awesome!
Love,
