Suggestion / Question about this spamming problem

Hi members,

this spamming problem really gets a little annoying. I have a little idea: I was registered in a few forums where the administrator first had to “unlock” your account before you could post. I don’t know if this problem is made by hackers that actually hack the structure of the forums or if they are “regular” people who just sit in front of their PCs, have too much time, and maybe get payed for registering in forums and posting advertising. But maybe it will help to control who’s registering here and who isn’t..
I don’t know if this is possible in the configuration of this forum’s core system, but I just wanted to suggest it.

And maybe, if anyone has any idea how this is happening, they can post it here.. I’m really wondering what makes this spamming worth the time to do it… I once heard that they just hope you click on links with viruses on the sites so that the viruses can spread.. not sure.

Anyway, the “regular” posts are easy to tell apart from the spam, so it isn’t too difficult to handle this, but it still kinda sucks…

Wow! It IS getting a bit ridiculous thought, huh?

Each time I log on I first have to go and do some clean up. It certainly seems to me like we are being particularly targeted.

I agree with your call UFO – it would be best if there was some kind of vetting system. People should need to “apply” for membership. Is that possible, Annu?

Another thing you could start doing is ban the IP address of the offenders that way they aren’t able to create more than one user name.

We are most certainly doing that, Wanderer. But either they are simply spoofing new IPs or there is a constant supply of new ones coming in.

Any idea where these people are coming from? If they have dial up like me they have a constantly changing IP. I am guessing they are being paid to post this spam :

Hey everyone,

So I have found out that it has to do with the CAPTCHA systems being circumvented. There is a manual fix for the forums, but I simply have not had the time to implement it! So, we are continuing to see the problem…

I apologize….it is simply my own lack of time that is stopping me from stopping the spam problem! I am almost done my big project, and will be able to again devote time to Book-of-Light. I hope we can keep a handle on it until I can fix the issue. It pains me to be leaving it hanging…I have some major updates to do now as well… but it is currently unavoidable.

The project I’m working on is George Green’s new website, (nohoax.com) and is a paying job that I need to complete in order to catch up on bills and life…so I have had to make it my priority. We have had some issues to iron out…so the site was supposed to be done almost a month ago now!! Georgie calls me daily to find out how I’m doing… 😀 The cool thing is, he gives me tidbits of info too while we chat. he he

A side note: George says that there are indicators we might see WW3 this year….China and Russia are having a bit of a spat…. So he says to get some dried food goods stored up. We have a giant bag of rice, some noodles, some canned meats, etc….just in case!

Anyhow, the crap is always set to fly on this planet…so regardless of rumors of wars, we all have the Love Inside! {{{{{{{{{{GROUP HUG}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Very soon I should be done…so please hang in there!!!!

Wow that’s totally awesome, I didn’t know you are working with George Green!!! Pretty darn awesome indeed! 😀
WW3? I wouldn’t count on it.. my personal feeling is that Love will jump in globally before something THAT bad can happen again on this planet.. I think those VERY bad times are gone.. just my personal feeling though.
Can you give out some more information about things? Just with his permission of course. ;D

DO we notice a difference in spamming? You guys are so diligent anyhow, that I only ever see it on occasion…so did we have any yet today after I made the changes to the registration form???

Annu, there was a new post today (my Monday 6th April), actually I think Zingdad & I were working on it at the same time 😆 . I made a note yesterday of the latest new member to join up, which was Hancor Kahomada. This wasn’t from that user though as it was a different username.There have been no new sign ups since yesterday. So this must have been one already previously registered lying “doggo” as we say over here.
