“All truth goes through three stages. First it is ridiculed. Then it is violently opposed. Finally it is accepted as self-evident.”
Schopenhauer
Freedom Spurned
When a caged animal is suddenly freed from the bars that have been its prison, it cannot assimilate the idea of freedom. It will pace around the same small area that it once hated, but had become accustomed to. The human race behaves in much the same way.
Be Free from Dogma
As I introduce topics for discussion and consideration, consider what it is that you will need to be able to look at these topics with clear insight, and not through a glass darkly.
- Be free from any dogmatic belief systems.
- Have no concerns about how others will view your beliefs.
Only from this vantage point, will you truthfully be able to say, that no-one else influenced your decision to believe or dis-believe.
Only if you are free from any dogmatic belief system will you be able to look at, and understand, the forces that believe that they have control over this planet and by default, you.
Cultivate a Strong Character
If you are faced with information which challenges, and perhaps demolishes your belief system, you will automatically edit the information made known to you. Only if you have a strong character, will you be able to edit from a free-thinking perspective. Without that strong character, you will edit from your already entrenched beliefs, and then toss the truth aside as trash.
Sift the Evidence
Of course, you will sift the evidence, but if your decision is to believe, then you face another dilemma. The fear of ridicule from friends, family and the public in general. It can feel less stressful to dismiss evidence than make a personal stand, never to pass on anything of your beliefs, because you fear the consequences. This is not freedom!
You will find in my articles and explorations a willingness to go wherever the evidence leads me, and if you have a belief system to defend, no doubt I shall be hearing from you.
Not Insane, Different
It is however, wise to avoid the trap of believing that you are the only sane person on the planet. Some evidence may seem totally un-believable, some may appear insane. History is chequered with words of this ilk. All it means is that you are hearing ideas that may be described as different, and in this context, different means just that, it does not mean wrong.
Look back at all the pioneers whose ideas have gone before. Their ‘different’ ideas have since become conventional wisdom, established beliefs that we cannot understand how anyone could ever have thought otherwise.
“First they ridicule you, then they condemn you, and then they say they knew you were right all along.”
David Icke
Today I’ll leave you with a few lines from The Warner Brothers 1999 film “The Matrix.”
“I’m trying to free your mind, Neo. But I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it.”
