How to embed videos into forum posts

Hey All,

I’ve seen a whole lot of awesome vids posted in the forums, but did you know you are able to actually embed the video in to posts?

Here’s how:

Use the Flash button above. Note: Hovering over buttons gives you details on methods for using the button BBCode.
WHen you click the Flash button you get the following code:

[flash=][/flash]

Enter the width and height (usually 400,326), then enter the video URL and that’s it.

[flash=width,height]URL OF VIDEO HERE[/flash]

Here’s a test embed:

[flash=400,326:3uhbjnl9]http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=1285345463618889531&hl=en&fs=true[/flash:3uhbjnl9]

Here’s the code I used for the above:

[flash=400,326]http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=1285345463618889531&hl=en&fs=true[/flash]

ya its nice but i like people to go there and search for other vid that can be interesting or also the person who posted it. Because i always wonder where thoses vid are from when embed. And whats good not using embed is you can share it with friends like in msn so they can watch it too.

I’m certainly not saying that you HAVE to embed videos. I have enabled the feature, so I thought a little ‘how to’ was in order. You can continue to post links to videos if you like, that’s no problem. OR if you want you may do both, embed and post a link, it’s totally up to you.

Hey there, Annu… I just tried to embed a vid and there’s no flash button, and when I typed it all in manually it said I can’t use certain BB codes… 😕

I guess I had to change some permissions to allow that. So now you should see it? Let me know…also try a browser cache clear to be sure it’s not caching the old version..

Annu, Is there a different link code to use to embed videos from Youtube?I was trying to embed a video from You Tube & I just tried the one above for Google but I can only bring up a blank box when I use it.

FIXED!

There is a new button called “youtube” for posting YouTube videos.

Here is what the code looks like:

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpkSeVgvA0o[/youtube]

It’s similar for Google Videos, however, you ONLY use the video id number:

[googlevid:2cxbvl7y]3313968958314441665[/googlevid:2cxbvl7y]

[googlevid]3313968958314441665[/googlevid]

If anyone has requests to add other video providers, let me know, but for now try the Flash option and let me know if it works or not.
