Since the rainbow is the visible spectrum of light, its symbolism is used a lot in the spiritual community. The colors of light all have significance, whether it is to auric, healing, or magickal qualities. Often the 7 colors are aligned with the 7 chakras, and in turn with the 7 densities the chakras represent. In that context, “red” is considered the “lowest” of the colors, representing the consciousness of the root chakra, and “violet” is considered the “highest” of the colors, representing the crown chakra. Some people take this to reinforce a hierarchical mentality, thinking themselves more evolved by focusing primarily on the “upper” half of the color spectrum. But I would argue that the rainbow is not an ascending staircase of colors but a circle. After all, which color is closest to violet in the rainbow? I think violet is visually closer to red than indigo is. The color wheel shows this relationship very well:

So, as you can see, the rainbow doesn’t end, but wraps around, with violet curling into red! What I’m getting at is that violet and red are actually the same state of consciousness! They both represent the superconsciousness of oneness/connection-to-Source. I just want to bring this up because I often see spiritually minded people devaluing things based on misplaced ideas of hierarchy. In many ways, I see the chakras as what allows us to be true multi-dimensional/density beings. They don’t just represent these densities and are portals to these densities, but also are our 1D/2D/3D/4D/5D/6D/7D self. By balancing our chakras, by evolving in culmulative and not exclusive ways, we are expressing our full multidimensional selves. We are an infinite circle (or spiral, if you prefer).
